The first badge that all Cub Scouts must earn is the Bobcat.

The Bobcat is represented in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book by the black panther, Bagheera. Bagheera teaches the cubs the skills of the jungle. For Cub Scouts, there are seven skills cubs must know to survive in the jungle.
